MathematiX Academy is an after-school math and reading enrichment program offering part-time teaching positions for live online classes. We operate from 3:30 PM to 9:00 PM EST on weekdays and from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM EST on weekends. Our program provides high-quality math and reading instruction in very small group settings (2–5 students) or one-on-one sessions. We offer flexible scheduling, with opportunities ranging from as few as 2 hours per week to significantly more, depending on teacher availability and student demand.
MathematiX Academy is a boutique, live teacher-led enrichment program specializing in advanced math for K–12 students, with growing opportunities in reading support. The academy offers small classes and tutoring (typically 3–5 students) and uses customized learning plans to address skill gaps and challenge advanced learners. Its unique curriculum combines effective strategies from around the world, adapted for American students to build analytical, critical reasoning, and deductive skills. MathematiX Academy focuses on fun, interactive lessons that foster deep understanding and a genuine interest in learning. The school has a strong track record of student success and emphasizes individualized instruction.
Role Description
This is a part-time remote role for an Online Math Instructor at MathematiX Academy. We are currently hiring teachers for the following levels: K–3, 4–5, and 6–8.The Online Math Teacher will be responsible for conducting live, instructor-led math sessions. Math Teacher will provide personalized instruction to students, track their progress, and ensure interactive and engaging lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruct students in Mathematics across K-3, 4-5, or 6-8 grades.
Partner with a mentor teacher to implement lessons that adhere to the MathematiX Academy curriculum and teaching methodologies.
Actively encourage, motivate, and engage students during instructional sessions.
Maintain student attention and redirect distracted students.
Use Socratic questioning when appropriate and direct teaching when necessary.
Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.
Aid students in grasping mathematical concepts and building mathematical skills.
Inspire students to apply their mathematical knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Cultivate critical thinking skills along with social and emotional development.
Coordinate with school managers to discuss students’ progress and classroom dynamics.
Participate in training sessions organized by MathematiX Academy.
Enhance students’ confidence and self-esteem through positive interactions and successful learning experiences with thoughtfully chosen materials.
Qualifications
MathematiX Academy welcomes passionate individuals who are interested in teaching math and/or reading to children to apply, even if they do not meet every qualification listed below.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Elementary Education, Mathematics, English, or a related field (or equivalent teaching experience) preferred.
Familiarity with virtual teaching platforms, digital classroom tools, and interactive learning resources.
At least one year of experience working with children, preferably in a school, tutoring, or educational setting.
Demonstrated ability to manage small groups of students, create an inclusive classroom environment, and support learners with diverse needs and abilities.
Previous experience with enrichment programs, gifted education, or competition-level mathematics instruction is a plus.
Availability during after-school hours and/or weekends based on student schedules.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Passion for education and the ability to make learning engaging and enjoyable for children.
