About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Beckon Homes is seeking an experienced, highly self-directed Owner Accounting & Finance Operations Manager for an ongoing fractional role of approximately 8–15 hours per week.
This is not a traditional bookkeeping-only position. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the financial operations connecting our property management team, homeowners, Guesty Accounting, employee expenses, guest damage claims, bookkeeping and multi-market compliance.
Our systems work, but some have evolved organically as the company has grown and are more manual than we want them to be. We are looking for someone who is comfortable learning the current processes, understanding why they work the way they do, owning the monthly workflow, and progressively making the system cleaner, more reliable and less founder-dependent.
What you'll own:
Monthly reconciliation of property-level financial activity
Reviewing Expensify reports across approximately 8–10 employees
Identifying property-billable work and expenses, including following up with team members when documentation is incomplete
Allocating and submitting expenses appropriately within the Guesty Accounting Module
Maintaining and understanding Guesty Accounting business models and related configurations
Reviewing monthly owner statements before release and identifying discrepancies
Investigating and explaining financial discrepancies to homeowners
Handling owner escalations involving financial questions
Coordinating with bookkeeping/accounting resources and running company financial reports
Tracking property purchases, reimbursements and owner-billable expenses
Filing, documenting and reconciling guest damage/insurance claims
Supporting purchasing and supply approvals as needed
Maintaining visibility into lodging taxes, permits, registrations, licenses and other jurisdiction-specific requirements across the markets in which we operate
Improving financial processes, documentation and internal controls over time
A typical issue in this role may not simply be “categorize this transaction.” It may be:
What was this purchase? Which property was it for? Was it owner-billable? Did the employee document the work performed? Was it already charged elsewhere? How should it appear on the owner's statement?
We need someone who enjoys solving that puzzle and closing the loop.
Ideal experience:
Owner accounting, property management accounting, hospitality accounting or STR finance operations
Direct experience with the Guesty Accounting Module strongly preferred
Owner statement preparation/review
Property-level expense allocation
Account reconciliation and bookkeeping
Expensify or similar expense-management systems
QuickBooks or comparable accounting platforms
Multi-property or multi-market businesses
Lodging tax, permitting, licensing or hospitality compliance
Guest damage claims or reimbursement processes
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is comfortable owning a function, rather than waiting each week for a list of assignments.
This person should notice discrepancies, investigate them, follow up with employees and owners when necessary, and make recommendations when the existing process can be improved.
Structure:
Ongoing fractional position
Approximately 8–15 hours/week initially
Remote
Flexible schedule, though availability during monthly reconciliation and owner-statement cycles is important
Approximately $45–$70/hour, depending on experience
Opportunity for broader business-operations responsibility over time if mutually desired
A college degree is welcome but not required. Relevant hands-on experience matters much more to us.
Work arrangement
No
