Outreach Intern

Garagi is looking for an Outreach Intern to help us connect with people hosting garage sales, yard sales, estate sales, and community sales and introduce them to Garagi. Garagi helps people discover, plan, and host local garage sales, making it easier for sellers to reach nearby shoppers and for shoppers to find sales around them.
This is a remote, part-time, completely unpaid internship. Applicants must be based in the United States. Garagi is a new, small startup, so we are not able to provide compensation at this time. However, we are committed to making this a valuable learning experience where you can gain hands-on experience with outreach, user acquisition, community growth, communication, and early-stage startup strategy.
What you’ll do
You will help Garagi grow by finding people who are already planning or promoting local sales and introducing them to Garagi as another way to reach nearby shoppers.
A major part of this role involves researching where garage sales are being shared online, identifying potential Garagi users, and reaching out to them with personalized messages.
Responsibilities may include:
Finding upcoming garage sales, yard sales, estate sales, moving sales, and community sales being promoted online
Researching public marketplaces, community groups, neighborhood pages, classifieds, local forums, social media, and other places where people share upcoming sales
Reaching out directly to sale hosts and introducing them to Garagi
Encouraging interested sellers to create a free Garagi listing for their sale
Writing friendly, personalized outreach messages rather than sending generic spam
Identifying new websites, communities, groups, and platforms where potential Garagi users can be found
Following up with interested users and helping answer basic questions about Garagi
Testing different outreach messages and approaches to determine what gets the best response
Tracking outreach attempts, responses, Garagi listings, and other results
Looking for creative new ways to bring more garage sale hosts onto the platform
Sharing feedback, common questions, and patterns you notice from potential users with the Garagi team
Helping us better understand where garage sale hosts currently promote their sales and what motivates them to try another platform
Who we’re looking for
You do not need to have years of experience. We are looking for someone who is motivated, reliable, organized, comfortable talking to new people, and interested in helping grow an early-stage startup.
Preference will be given to people studying or experienced in areas like business, marketing, entrepreneurship, communications, sales, public relations, growth, or a related field.
A strong candidate is someone who:
Communicates clearly, professionally, and naturally
Is comfortable starting conversations with people online
Can personalize outreach instead of relying entirely on copy-and-paste messages
Is resourceful and good at finding potential users online
Is organized and able to keep track of outreach efforts and responses
Is comfortable researching marketplaces, community groups, classifieds, social media, and other online communities
Is interested in startups, apps, growth, marketing, sales, resale, thrifting, garage sales, or local communities
Can think creatively about how to get people interested in trying a new platform
Is willing to test different approaches, learn from results, and improve over time
Can work remotely and stay consistent
Wants hands-on experience with real startup outreach and user acquisition
Role details
Position: Outreach Intern
Location: Remote, United States only
Time commitment: Part-time, 12 to 16 hours per week
Internship length: Until December 11, 2026
Extension: Possible based on performance and fit
Compensation: This is a completely unpaid internship

You will gain hands-on experience with user acquisition, outreach, sales communication, market research, growth strategy, and early-stage startup operations. You will also have the opportunity to suggest your own ideas for where Garagi should look for users and how we can improve our outreach.
Since Garagi is still small, your work can have a direct and measurable impact on the growth of the platform while giving you experience you can discuss in future applications, interviews, or portfolio work.
Note: This is a completely unpaid internship. Garagi is a new, small startup and cannot provide hourly pay, a stipend, commission, equity, or a guaranteed future paid role connected to this position. Please only apply if you understand and are comfortable with the position being fully unpaid.
