About the Role
Furniture Arbitrage (AKA SitOnThatThang) is a young used furniture business based in Minneapolis. We buy, restore, sell, and deliver furniture primarily through Facebook Marketplace — and we’ve documented a huge amount of what happens along the way.
We’re looking for an experienced short-form editor to turn that raw footage into viral-style Reels, TikToks, and Shorts.
You’ll be working with real, unscripted footage of Facebook Marketplace interactions: buying furniture, negotiating deals, meeting customers, making deliveries, junk removal jobs, furniture flips, and the unpredictable situations that come with doing business with strangers every day.
Some of it is funny, some chaotic, some wholesome, and some genuinely unbelievable. It’s the kind of footage that gives an editor a lot to work with.
We’ve already had multiple videos reach millions of views, and during periods of consistent posting, our videos have averaged around 50,000 views. We have the footage — we need someone with the editing instincts and time to consistently turn it into content.
What You’ll Do
● Edit approximately 2–4+ short-form videos per week
● Review organized folders of raw footage and identify the strongest moments
● Turn longer interactions into compelling, fast-paced short-form stories
● Create hooks, captions, cuts, pacing, and structure optimized for retention
● Build a backlog of finished content to maintain consistent posting
● Track performance and use results to improve future edits
● Experiment with formats, recurring series, hooks, and editing styles
● Help develop new content ideas and tell us what you’d like the team to capture
You’ll have significant creative freedom. If you see an opportunity for a new series, format, script, or filming approach, we’re willing to test it.
Our content also occasionally expands beyond furniture into entrepreneurship and travel, including footage from clothing sourcing and arbitrage in Tokyo.
Who We’re Looking For
Previous short-form editing or social media experience is required.
We’re looking for someone who can open a folder of raw footage, recognize what has potential, and start creating without needing to be taught the fundamentals.
You should be comfortable with:
● TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts
● Hooks, retention, pacing, storytelling, and captions
● CapCut, Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar software
● Working independently and staying organized across a large content library
● Committing several focused hours per week on a consistent basis
A degree isn’t required. Your work matters more than your credentials.
Compensation & Long-Term Opportunity
The position begins with a one-month trial period with performance-based bonuses.
If you’re a strong fit, the goal is to transition you into a more permanent position with a monthly retainer + performance bonuses.
We want someone who can eventually take meaningful ownership of our short-form content rather than simply complete individual editing assignments.
Remote + Optional Minneapolis Work
You do not need to live in Minneapolis. The editing role can be performed completely remotely.
If you’re local, you’ll also have the completely optional opportunity to join us for pickups, deliveries, junk removal, sourcing, and other operations — including being present when content is filmed.
Optional hands-on work pays approximately $20–$25/hour plus free meals while working.
Why Apply?
You’ll be editing real, unscripted footage with demonstrated viral potential, not trying to manufacture content from generic corporate material.
You’ll have access to a large existing content library, creative freedom to experiment, performance-based upside, and the opportunity to turn the internship into an ongoing paid position.
For an editor who understands short-form content and wants strong material to work with, this is an opportunity to create videos people actually watch.
