Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer to lead the company’s finance organization and provide executive leadership across financial planning, reporting, business performance, risk management, and long-term financial strategy.
The CFO will serve as a key business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team, providing clear financial insight and practical recommendations to support business decisions. The ideal candidate combines strong technical finance expertise with commercial judgment, operational understanding, analytical thinking, and the ability to build scalable financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business objectives, operating priorities, and long-term plans. Provide financial guidance on resource allocation, investments, organizational planning, and strategic initiatives.
Financial Planning & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting, long-range planning, financial forecasting, scenario analysis, and performance planning. Establish reliable processes that provide leadership with visibility into current and future financial requirements.
Financial Reporting
Oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting. Analyze financial results, operating trends, variances, and key performance indicators and communicate relevant insights to executive leadership.
Accounting & Financial Operations
Provide oversight of accounting, controllership, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, financial policies, and internal financial processes. Ensure financial information is accurate, consistent, and appropriately controlled.
Cash Flow & Liquidity Management
Oversee cash flow forecasting, working capital, liquidity planning, and cash management. Identify financial requirements and maintain appropriate visibility into the company’s short- and long-term liquidity position.
Business Performance & Financial Analysis
Analyze revenue, margins, expenses, operating costs, productivity, profitability, and other key performance indicators. Translate financial and operational information into practical recommendations for improving business performance.
Budget Management
Establish effective budget management processes and monitor actual results against approved plans. Investigate significant variances and work with business leaders to develop appropriate corrective actions.
Risk Management & Internal Controls
Develop and maintain appropriate financial controls, policies, procedures, and risk management practices. Evaluate financial and operational risks and provide recommendations to strengthen business resilience.
Strategic Decision Support
Partner with the CEO and executive leadership on major business decisions, including investments, expansion initiatives, commercial opportunities, organizational changes, and operational priorities.
Capital & Investment Planning
Evaluate capital requirements, financing alternatives, major expenditures, and investment opportunities. Provide financial analysis covering expected returns, costs, risks, and potential business impact.
Executive Partnership
Work closely with leaders across Sales, Operations, Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and other functions to incorporate financial considerations into business planning and performance management.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement
Evaluate financial systems, reporting structures, planning tools, and data processes. Lead improvements that increase financial visibility, reporting efficiency, data quality, and organizational scalability.
Compliance & External Relationships
Oversee relationships with external accountants, auditors, tax professionals, banking partners, legal advisors, and other financial service providers. Maintain appropriate financial reporting and compliance processes.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop the finance organization. Establish clear responsibilities, performance expectations, development plans, and operating standards across the team.
Organizational Planning
Partner with executive leadership on organizational structure, workforce planning, resource requirements, operating models, and long-term business priorities. Evaluate the financial implications of major organizational decisions.
Executive Reporting
Prepare and present financial performance updates, forecasts, business analysis, financial recommendations, and strategic insights to the CEO, executive leadership team, and other appropriate stakeholders.
Qualifications
Executive Finance Leadership
Proven experience leading finance and accounting functions at a senior executive level, with responsibility for financial strategy, planning, reporting, and business performance.
Financial Expertise
Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting, financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, cash management, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Strategic Thinking
Ability to connect financial strategy with broader business objectives and evaluate the financial implications of complex business decisions.
Business Acumen
Strong understanding of operating models, revenue, cost structures, profitability, working capital, resource allocation, and organizational performance.
Analytical Skills
Excellent ability to interpret financial and operational data, identify trends, evaluate scenarios, and develop clear, actionable recommendations.
Leadership & Communication
Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills with the ability to explain complex financial matters clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
Risk & Controls
Experience establishing financial controls, evaluating business risks, and implementing practical processes that support sound financial management.
Systems & Technology
Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting platforms, planning tools, business intelligence solutions, and related financial technologies.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with executive leadership and business functions to support strategic planning and operational decision-making.
Remote Leadership
Experience leading geographically distributed teams and maintaining effective financial operations, communication, reporting, and accountability in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience serving as CFO, Deputy CFO, VP of Finance, or in a comparable senior finance leadership position.
Experience leading finance organizations through growth, operational scaling, or significant business change.
Experience in technology, SaaS, professional services, manufacturing, healthcare, or another complex operating environment.
Strong background in capital planning, financing, investment analysis, or banking relationships.
Experience developing financial planning, reporting, and performance management frameworks.
Experience working directly with CEOs and executive leadership teams.
CPA, MBA, or comparable advanced finance or business qualification is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
