Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research teams to make cutting-edge language models smarter, safer, and more technically rigorous — and we need mechanical engineers to help us do it.
As a Mechanical Engineering Expert, you'll stress-test advanced AI systems on topics like fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, structural mechanics, and mechatronics. You'll design problems that expose the limits of AI reasoning, author gold-standard solutions, and provide the structured feedback that helps these models think better.
This is a rare opportunity to apply your deep technical knowledge to a field that's reshaping the world — on your own schedule, from anywhere.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Challenging Problems — Craft advanced mechanical engineering problems across domains including FEA (Finite Element Analysis), heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to rigorously test AI performance
Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions and benchmark responses that serve as the standard for AI learning
Audit AI Outputs — Evaluate AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
Improve AI Reasoning — Identify logical errors in AI outputs — such as incorrect force distributions, flawed energy conservation arguments, or invalid material assumptions — and deliver structured feedback to improve model quality
Who You Are
Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
Able to communicate complex physical phenomena and technical reasoning clearly and concisely in writing
Highly detail-oriented when reviewing mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
No prior AI experience required — your engineering knowledge is what matters
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
Background in technical writing or academic publishing
