Job Description
Purpose of the role
To use innovative data analytics and machine learning techniques to extract valuable insights from the bank's data reserves, leveraging these insights to inform strategic decision-making, improve operational efficiency, and drive innovation across the organisation.
Accountabilities
Identification, collection, extraction of data from various sources, including internal and external sources.
Performing data cleaning, wrangling, and transformation to ensure its quality and suitability for analysis.
Development and maintenance of efficient data pipelines for automated data acquisition and processing.
Design and conduct of statistical and machine learning models to analyse patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
Development and implementation of predictive models to forecast future outcomes and identify potential risks and opportunities.
Collaborate with business stakeholders to seek out opportunities to add value from data through Data Science.

Overall purpose of role
To support the Financial Crime Screening operation by providing support for the technological services used by the team and ensure development and delivery of high-quality data forensics. This will involve both directly performing analytical and development work, as well as working with the Barclays internal technical teams to ensure continued delivery of the platforms used. Additionally, compliance with Sanctions policies and work practices will be monitored and all requirements and restrictions adhered to.

Key Accountabilities:
Apply statistical techniques, machine learning methods, and analytical approaches to solve complex business and operational challenges.
Write high-quality, scalable code in Python and SQL to extract, transform, analyse, and visualise complex datasets using Power BI and Tableau, building robust data pipelines that integrate data from multiple sources.
Produce meaningful data forensics and advanced analytics to support the delivery of Financial Crime Screening operational initiatives.
Design, develop, and maintain analytical and machine learning solutions to generate insights, identify patterns, and support data-driven decision making.
Respond to ad-hoc analytical requests and communicate findings, trends, insights, and MI effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with data engineering and technology teams to support data acquisition, transformation, and optimisation activities.
Have an active interest in emerging technologies, data science methodologies, visualisation techniques, and automation opportunities across multiple technical disciplines.
Develop an understanding of Financial Crime preventative measures, systems, and operational processes within Barclays.
Support the delivery of automation, analytics, and AI-driven initiatives aligned with the wider Group strategy.
Stakeholder Management and Leadership:
Good interpersonal skills which will be used to maintain relationships with multiple business areas, including Senior Leadership and Compliance.
Ability to manage laterally and upwards across multiple discipline technical areas.
Decision-making and Problem Solving:
Strong quantitative, statistical, and analytical skills with the ability to solve complex business problems logically and methodically.
Demonstrated experience handling and analysing large datasets using Python, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, and other analytical tools.
Experience applying machine learning techniques, predictive analytics, data modelling, and statistical methods to derive business insights.
Basic understanding of data engineering concepts, database structures, data pipelines, and data processing frameworks would be advantageous.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple analytical projects and deliver measurable business outcomes within agreed timelines

The role holder will have a proven record of accomplishment of managerial experience, responsible for the results of a complex and highly regulated and audited area’s operational processing activity.
The role holder will be required to represent the team and/or department in meetings, site visits and effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable Skillsets:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline.
Relevant experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and Business Intelligence.
Strong hands-on experience in Python and SQL programming, including data manipulation, data analysis, and solution development.
Experience building and maintaining analytical models using statistical and machine learning techniques.
