CLIENT BACKGROUND
Our client is a specialty CPA firm serving Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs) and financial advisors through proactive tax planning, tax preparation, and personalized advisory services. They focus on delivering guaranteed tax savings through niche expertise, deeper client relationships, and responsive, proactive service.

Rather than relying on high-volume tax work and long hours, they are building a modern firm focused on meaningful advisory work and high-value client engagements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare individual and business tax returns accurately and efficiently, including multi-state returns.
Prepare workpapers and organize/import supporting documents for tax planning and preparation.
Identify potential tax issues, inconsistencies, missing information, and planning opportunities during preparation and escalate them appropriately.
Provide direct support to the Tax Planning Manager across tax preparation and planning activities, including tax planning calculations, projections, estimated tax payments, entity-level planning, and implementation of tax planning strategies.
Set up and maintain customized tax planning workbooks and tools using Excel.
Coordinate tax-related client administration, including document requests, follow-ups, payment information, and maintaining complete and organized engagement documentation.
Work within Karbon to manage tasks, deadlines, client information, and workflow.
Use technology and internal tools to complete work efficiently and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Support the development and refinement of internal Excel workbooks, tools, automations, and processes.
Follow established quality control measures and firm protocols to ensure accurate and consistent work.
Communicate proactively with the Tax Planning Manager and team regarding deadlines, priorities, questions, and potential issues.
Communicate with clients primarily through email regarding document requests, tax administration, and other information needed to support their engagements.
Support the team with other tax planning, preparation, and administrative projects as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of US tax preparation experience within a US accounting or tax firm.
Strong knowledge of US tax preparation and tax compliance processes, with a solid understanding of accounting fundamentals such as journal entries and general accounting principles.
Strong Karbon experience is highly preferred, with the ability to navigate and use the platform effectively in a remote workflow.
Experience with Lacerte is highly preferred.
Very comfortable learning and using new technology, with the ability to quickly adapt to new software, systems, tools, and processes.
At least basic knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO) and familiarity with accounting workflows.
Strong Excel skills, including comfort working with complex spreadsheets, formulas, and customized workbooks.
Experience with Tallyfor, DataSnipper, or similar tax and accounting platforms is a plus.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with team members and clients. Phone communication may be required as the role develops.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and stay organized using systems and workflows.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with a proactive approach to improving processes and efficiency.
Willingness to learn tax planning and take on responsibilities beyond traditional tax preparation.
