About the project
The client's Digital Governance Program (Program) is a mandatory capability development program for SROs of newly approved Australian Government digital and ICT investments. Since its launch, the Program has been successfully delivered to multiple cohorts of senior executives across the Australian Public Service and is now an established component of the Australian Government's approach to strengthening digital governance capability. The two-day Program combines contemporary governance theory with immersive simulation-based learning activities designed to reflect the complexities, risks and decision-making challenges associated with major digital investments. The Program supports SROs to build practical governance capabilities, improve oversight of digital delivery, and strengthen the likelihood of successful investment outcomes.
About the team
The Co-Facilitator will be engaged within the Leadership Programs and Integration (LPI) team of the Portfolio Assurance Branch. LPI team is responsible for leading initiatives to generate system-wide learning and to evolve the assurance system for digital investments, to maximize its value in driving better decisions and outcomes from digital projects. This includes delivering a world-class capability program for SROs of digital projects.
Job Description:
The client is seeking to engage a qualified and experienced Co-Facilitator to support the delivery of the Digital Governance Program (Program) in 2027. The Program is delivered to SROs in person in Canberra and combines facilitator-led discussions, governance simulations, case studies and interactive learning activities. The successful applicant will work alongside department's executives and staff to support the delivery of the Program, contribute to participant engagement, facilitate learning activities and discussions, and help achieve the Program's learning outcomes. Curriculum content, learning materials and facilitation guides will be provided by the department. The facilitator will be expected to become familiar with the Program content and work collaboratively with department representatives to deliver a high-quality learning experience for participants.
Key duties and responsibilities
The successful applicant must demonstrate skills and capabilities to meet the following essential criteria:
Experience facilitating executive pitched training, workshops or leadership development programs for the APS Senior Executive Service (SES) or equivalent C-level audiences.
Demonstrated experience with being a part of governance, oversight or decision-making forums associated with large-scale digital transformation, ICT or technology-enabled projects or programs.
Proven experience and/or demonstrable understanding of the digital SRO role in government and its requirements, to confidently facilitate content covering complex policy, governance and delivery challenges faced by this cohort.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to guide complex discussions, encourage participation and challenge participants constructively
Essential criteria
Experience facilitating executive pitched training, workshops or leadership development programs for the APS Senior Executive Service (SES) or equivalent C-level audiences. Proven experience facilitating training and/or workshops for a Senior Executive audience to support the delivery and achievement of specific learning outcomes
Demonstrated experience with being a part of governance, oversight or decision-making forums associated with large-scale digital transformation, ICT or technology-enabled projects or programs. Demonstratable experience engaging with or advising executive governance boards for large and complex digital transformation programs.
Proven experience and/or demonstrable understanding of the digital SRO role in government and its requirements, to confidently facilitate content covering complex policy, governance and delivery challenges faced by this cohort. Proven capabilities as an effective and strategic communicator with experience communicating and influencing senior executives.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to guide complex discussions, encourage participation and challenge participants constructively.
