Full-Stack Developer

Company Description Kindred Tutors is a STEM-focused test preparation organization built on the core belief that kindness drives results. Dedicated to helping learners build confidence and improve academic performance in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the organization designs structured programs that prepare students for a variety of standardized tests (including the SHSAT and SAT) using an engineering-based method to problem-solving.
Role Description
Kindred Tutors is looking for a Full-Stack Developer to take ownership of our testing platform.
Our immediate priority is our SHSAT diagnostic platform, which supports online assessments, personalized skill reports, and automated email delivery. You will begin by assessing the existing platform and codebase, determining what can be maintained and developed further and what may need to be rebuilt.
You will become the primary technical owner of Kindred Tutors' testing infrastructure, developing and maintaining tools that support our SHSAT, SAT, and ACT programs.
This is a part-time, project-based contract role with the potential for ongoing work as Kindred Tutors grows.
Note: Kindred Tutors is currently a pre-revenue, early-stage business. This is a part-time, project-based collaboration with an expected commitment of approximately 8-15 hours per week.
Qualifications
Experience with full-stack web development and building web-based applications
Experience with front-end development, including responsive and accessible user interfaces
Experience with back-end development, including APIs, data management, and third-party service integrations
Ability to work with an existing codebase, troubleshoot technical issues, and determine when functionality should be improved versus rebuilt
Experience with version control (Git), databases, and software deployment
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in an early-stage environment
Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate remotely, and meet agreed-upon project timelines
Experience in education, STEM, or test preparation
Experience building educational, assessment, or e-learning platforms
Experience with automated reporting, email workflows, or student-facing dashboards
Experience developing applications that handle user accounts, assessment data, or other structured student information
Technical Experience
Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular
Experience with server-side technologies such as Node.js, Python, or similar
Familiarity with relational or NoSQL databases
Familiarity with automated testing, cloud hosting, and deployment practices
