Solar Engineer

Role Description The Solar Engineer will work full time on-site in the Pune Division, focusing on the design, analysis, and optimization of solar power systems for client projects. Daily responsibilities include developing PV system layouts, performing electrical and performance calculations, and preparing technical drawings, specifications, and documentation. The role involves conducting feasibility studies, evaluating site conditions, and supporting system sizing, component selection, and compliance with relevant codes and standards. The Solar Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support project proposals, respond to technical queries, and assist in project execution and performance monitoring. The position also includes occasional client interaction to explain technical solutions, provide recommendations, and support ongoing improvements in solar system design and implementation.
Qualifications
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or higher (preferably Electrical, Mechanical or energy-focused) with prior analytical/engineering experience in Solar PV with developer or IE
3-5 years of experience in PVSyst, Sketch-up, Helioscope, AutoCAD and other design software
Should be able to develop detailed layouts and electrical design packages for solar PV systems that meet all contractual, code, and permitting requirements.
Deep understanding of PV physics, including inverter clipping, bifacial gain, temperature coefficients, and DC/AC ratios.
Ability to understand civil and structural design requirements.
Ability to develop Single-line and Three-Line diagrams with required electrical details for Solar PV systems in accordance with NEC, IEEE, NESC, utility interconnection tariffs and requirements, and local AHJ as necessary.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (for layout export) and Advanced Excel (Pivot tables, data processing).
Working knowledge of NEC, with a thorough understanding of Article 690, and a basic understanding of Articles 240, 250, 310, 691, and 705.
Understanding of PV design principles and associated electrical design calculations.
Perform detailed solar system calculations, including sizing, shading analysis, and energy yield estimates.
Having experience in Helioscope, Aurora, PVCAD and PVCase software will be a plus.
Understanding of photovoltaic systems and electrical components
Excellent communication and organizational skills
