Senior Purchase Engineer

Job Role Headline
Responsible for procuring technical goods and services supporting engineering and manufacturing operations, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery objectives are met in line with global GT Emissions Systems standards. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager.

Job Purpose:
GT Emissions Systems Ltd is a global leader in exhaust gas control systems. The Purchasing Engineer will support procurement activities ensuring timely supply, cost optimisation, and quality compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
• Procure technical goods and services used in organisational operations
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and master purchase agreements
• Raise and manage purchase orders
• Work closely with R&D and Engineering teams to understand project requirements and timelines
• Create and manage supplier project timing plans
• Challenge costs and initiate VA/VE cost reduction activities
• Understand and interpret engineering drawings
• Manage supplier delivery and performance
• Maintain and update the Approved Supplier List
• Support design change control processes
• Visit supplier sites and build long-term supplier relationships
• Develop purchasing procedures and work instructions
Attributes:
Key Skills & Experience:
• 10+ years’ experience in Purchasing / Buyer roles
• Automotive or engineering industry experience preferred
• Strong negotiation and supplier evaluation capabilities
• Excellent communication skills in English
• Proficient in Excel, ERP, and MS Office
• Strong analytical and organisational skills
• Ability to multitask and work cross-functionally
• Reliable, flexible, and professional approach
