Role Description The Senior Optometrist will provide comprehensive eye examinations, diagnose vision conditions, and prescribe corrective lenses and treatments in an on-site clinical setting in Bengaluru. This full-time role includes managing patient consultations, conducting advanced diagnostic tests, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to support integrated digital healthcare services. The Senior Optometrist will educate patients on eye health, preventive care, and the use of digital tools offered by Merago’s platform. Responsibilities also include maintaining accurate clinical records, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols, and contributing to continuous improvement in patient care standards. The role may involve mentoring junior clinical staff and supporting the development of best practices for digital eye care delivery.
Qualifications
Relevant clinical expertise in optometry, including comprehensive eye examinations, diagnosis of refractive errors, and management of common ocular conditions.
Strong patient care skills, including clear communication, counseling on treatment options, and a focus on empathetic, inclusive care.
Comfort with health technology and digital platforms, including electronic medical records and telehealth tools.
Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams and contribute to integrated care pathways.
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Optometry from a recognized institution; valid professional licensure/registration as required in the region.
Several years of clinical experience in optometry, with exposure to high-volume or specialty eye care settings preferred.
Strong attention to detail, adherence to clinical protocols, and commitment to quality and safety in patient care.
Experience mentoring or supervising junior clinicians or interns is an advantage.
Interest in digital healthcare innovation and willingness to adopt new clinical workflows and technologies.
