Senior Oracle Data Warehouse Engineer – OCI / ADW

We are looking for a Senior Oracle Data Warehouse Engineer for an important contract engagement with an established Australian technology business.
This is a hands-on delivery role for someone with deep practical experience across Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW) who can come into the environment and become productive immediately.
This is not an enterprise architecture position or an infrastructure-focused role. We need someone who can take ownership of reporting and data warehouse requirements, understand the existing environment, design the right solution, build it, validate it and take it through to production.
What we need
• Deep hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW)
• Strong data warehouse design and dimensional modelling experience, including facts, dimensions, aggregation, historical data and incremental processing
• Practical experience working with bronze, silver and gold data architectures
• Strong hands-on SQL and Python skills
• Experience designing and building ETL / ELT pipelines, APIs and data-processing components
• Experience ingesting data from multiple sources including relational databases, NoSQL/document stores, APIs and event or streaming sources
• Strong understanding of incremental loading, replay, idempotency and late-arriving data
• Experience migrating operational reporting away from transactional databases and into a modern data warehouse
• Experience managing parallel running, reconciliation, validation and safe production cutover
• Good practical knowledge of warehouse performance including aggregation, partitioning, query optimisation and cost management
• Strong delivery autonomy. You should be comfortable taking a reporting capability from existing implementation through design, development, testing and production
• Strong stakeholder skills and the ability to work directly with business owners, report owners and engineers
• Comfortable reverse-engineering legacy reporting logic and working through incomplete or ambiguous requirements
• Production engineering mindset including source control, automated testing, CI/CD, repeatable deployments, monitoring and environment promotion
• Comfortable working within legacy environments where documentation may not always be complete or the architecture perfectly clean
You do not need to be an enterprise data architect, OCI infrastructure specialist or Kubernetes expert.
Specific Oracle ingestion-product experience is also not essential.
Those capabilities already exist elsewhere in the team.
What matters is that you are a senior, hands-on Oracle data warehouse engineer who can come in, understand the environment quickly and deliver.
This is an important project with a significant amount of ownership and visibility.
The business needs someone who can work independently, solve problems, challenge existing assumptions where required and help modernise a reporting environment without expecting a perfect greenfield setup.
