Business Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a Chartered Accountant to own and drive the company’s finance function across financial reporting, MIS, cash-flow management, accounting, taxation, audits, and statutory compliance.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can go beyond bookkeeping and independently manage the finance function, build strong financial controls, and provide management with accurate, actionable financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
● Own day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
● Ensure accurate books of accounts, reconciliations, accruals, provisions and month-end closures.
● Review P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow statements.
● Coordinate with auditors, consultants, banks and other financial stakeholders.
● Establish and strengthen internal financial controls and processes.
MIS & Management Reporting
● Prepare weekly/monthly MIS for management.
● Develop dashboards covering revenue, gross margin, EBITDA, working capital,
receivables, payables and cash position.
● Analyse business performance and highlight variances, risks and opportunities.
● Build financial models and reports for management decision-making.
● Track budgets vs. actuals and provide variance analysis.
Cash Flow & Working Capital
● Own cash-flow planning and forecasting.
● Maintain daily/weekly visibility of cash position.
● Manage working capital, receivables and payables.
● Monitor collections, vendor payments and cash requirements.
● Identify opportunities to improve cash conversion and working-capital efficiency.
Taxation & Compliance
● Own GST, TDS, income-tax and other applicable statutory compliances.
● Ensure timely filing of returns, payments and regulatory submissions.
● Coordinate statutory, tax and internal audits.
● Maintain compliance calendars and ensure zero missed deadlines.
● Support regulatory and corporate compliance requirements.
Business Finance
● Work closely with the founders and business teams on financial decisions.
● Evaluate unit economics, margins and profitability across business verticals.
● Support fundraising, due diligence and investor reporting.
● Assist with financial planning, budgeting and forecasting.
● Identify financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
What We’re Looking For
● CA qualification with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
● Strong understanding of accounting, taxation, compliance and financial reporting.
● Excellent command of Excel / Google Sheets and MIS reporting.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Experience with ERP/accounting software and financial reporting systems.
● Ability to independently manage finance operations in a fast-growing company.
● Strong attention to detail with a high sense of ownership.
● Comfortable working directly with founders and senior management.
● Prior experience in a startup, e-commerce, retail, D2C or high-growth company
is preferred.
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is commercially sharp, highly analytical and
execution-oriented — not someone who only manages compliance and accounting.
The right person should be able to look at the numbers and answer:
● Where is our cash going?
● Why did margins move this month?
● Which business/channel/customer is profitable?
● How much cash do we need over the next 30/60/90 days?
● What is causing working-capital blockage?
● What financial risks should management know about?
● How can finance help the business grow faster?
