Welding Engineer

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Welding Engineer for a reputed ISO 9001:2015 certified oil & gas fabrication company in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. The company supplies skid packages, pressure vessels, piping spools, tanks and structural steel to Saudi Aramco and major EPC contractors.
The successful candidate will be the technical authority for all welding activities at the facility, owning WPS/PQR development, welder qualification, consumable selection and heat-treatment requirements. All work must comply with ASME and AWS codes and client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, qualify and maintain WPS and PQR as per ASME Section IX, AWS D1.1 and project specifications.
Plan and supervise PQR test coupons, including NDT and mechanical testing (tensile, bend, impact, hardness, macro).
Submit welding procedures, weld maps and welding/NDT plans to clients for review and approval.
Organise welder qualification tests (WPQ) and maintain the welder qualification and continuity register.
Select welding processes and consumables for carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, low-temperature and alloy steels.
Define preheat, interpass and PWHT requirements, and approve weld repair procedures.
Troubleshoot welding defects, analyse repair rates and implement corrective actions on the shop floor.
Coordinate with QA/QC Welding Inspectors on NDT requirements and acceptance criteria.
Conduct welder training and maintain complete welding documentation for audits and final dossiers.
Required Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor's degree in Welding, Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.
4–6 years of experience as a Welding Engineer in oil & gas, petrochemical, pressure vessel, piping or structural fabrication.
Hands-on experience in WPS/PQR/WPQ preparation and qualification.
Expert knowledge of ASME Section IX; working knowledge of ASME Section II Part C, V, VIII Div. 1, B31.3 and AWS D1.1.
IWE (International Welding Engineer) preferred.
CSWIP 3.1/3.2, AWS-CWI/CWE or Saudi Aramco WPS approval experience is an added advantage.
Strong knowledge of SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and SAW processes, welding metallurgy and NDT methods.
Excellent English communication and technical report-writing skills.
