Architecture assistant

We’re looking for a Remote Architectural Assistant / Architect to support us with architectural drawings, design development and technical project work.
The two most important things we are looking for are exceptional attention to detail and a very high standard of 2D architectural drawing.
The majority of our work is 2D, so this role is primarily about producing accurate, clear and well-coordinated plans, elevations, sections and technical drawings.
We are not particularly interested in portfolios focused mainly on 3D visualisation or rendering. 3D ability is useful, but it is secondary for us. We are much more interested in seeing the quality of your 2D architectural work.
We mainly work on residential projects, including extensions, loft conversions, internal alterations and Building Regulations packages.
Responsibilities
Produce accurate existing and proposed architectural drawings
Develop drawings from surveys, sketches and mark-ups
Prepare planning and Building Regulations drawing packages
Produce high-quality plans, elevations, sections and construction details
Carefully review drawings before submitting them
Identify errors, inconsistencies and missing information
Check dimensions, levels, annotations and drawing coordination
Coordinate architectural drawings with structural information where required
Make amendments accurately and efficiently
Raise issues early where something does not look right
Manage your own workload and meet agreed deadlines
What we’re looking for
Strong experience using Vectorworks
Exceptional 2D architectural drawing ability
Degree in Architecture or a related subject
Excellent attention to detail
Very high standard of drawing accuracy and presentation
Good understanding of residential architecture
Ability to check and review your own work properly
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Able to use initiative and solve problems
Reliable and responsive
Able to follow instructions carefully
Portfolio
When applying, we would particularly like to see examples of your 2D architectural drawings.
This could include:
Existing and proposed plans
Elevations
Sections
Planning drawing sets
Building Regulations drawings
Construction details
Please do not feel the need to send a portfolio dominated by renders or 3D visualisations. We would rather see a smaller number of excellent, accurate and well-presented 2D drawings.
The type of person we want
We do not want to micromanage every drawing.
If a dimension does not make sense, we expect you to notice it.
If a plan does not coordinate with an elevation or section, we expect you to pick it up.
If something appears to be missing, inconsistent or incorrect, we expect you to investigate it rather than simply continue because it was not specifically mentioned.
We are looking for someone who takes pride in producing clean, accurate and properly coordinated drawings and who checks their work before sending it.
You should be the type of person who notices the small things.
