Senior PHP Developer

Role Description The Senior PHP Developer will design, develop, and maintain scalable web applications and APIs that support UTSAF’s international health tourism platforms. In this full-time remote role, the developer will write clean, secure, and efficient PHP code, implement object-oriented designs, and integrate front-end components with back-end services. Daily responsibilities include reviewing requirements, collaborating with product and design teams, performing code reviews, troubleshooting and debugging issues, and optimizing application performance and reliability. The role also involves maintaining documentation, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices, and contributing to architectural decisions for new features and system improvements.
Qualifications
Strong back-end web development skills, including PHP and API design, with experience building and maintaining server-side applications.
Proficiency in object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns, with the ability to structure modular, reusable, and testable code.
Experience in front-end development, working with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks to integrate user interfaces with back-end services.
Solid software development and programming skills, including version control (e.g., Git), unit testing, and familiarity with modern development workflows.
Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL), query optimization, and data modeling.
Knowledge of security best practices, performance tuning, and scalability in web applications.
Ability to work effectively in a remote, cross-functional team environment, with clear communication and time management skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Experience in health, tourism, or related domains and familiarity with international or multilingual platforms is an advantage.
