Vice President, Software Engineering

For our client, we are seeking a Vice President, Software Engineering to join the team of a leader in the Transportation space.
This leader will shape the enterprise software delivery strategy across multiple business units, with a focus on modernization, standardization, and scalable execution. The role will guide high-performing engineering teams through platform transformation efforts while strengthening governance across both legacy and modern environments. You will also partner with senior leaders to improve delivery predictability, quality, operational stability, and adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $180,000 – $220,000 annually
Responsibilities
Collaborate on the enterprise vision and strategy for software delivery across business units
Own delivery KPIs for predictability, quality, and operational stability
Lead modernization to reusable services and common engineering patterns
Establish engineering standards and best practices for software delivery
Drive improvements in deployment frequency and delivery predictability metrics
Ensure adoption of enterprise architecture standards across products and squads
Oversee daily management and KPI reviews across business units
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
12+ years of software engineering leadership experience, including 7+ years managing multiple teams or business units
Proven success in platform transformation and governance across legacy and modern systems
Experience with Agile/Lean practices and measurable quality improvements in engineering
Demonstrated record of deploying AI-enabled engineering practices and automation tools
Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
