For our client, we are seeking a Physician Advisor to join the team of a leader in the Hospitals & Medical Centers space.
This remote role will support utilization management efforts for hospitalized patients, helping ensure compliant status determinations and effective inpatient care coordination. The Physician Advisor will partner closely with payors, medical staff, and organizational leaders to strengthen review processes, address denials, and improve UM outcomes. This position is well suited to a physician leader who can combine clinical judgment, payer-facing communication, and operational influence in a hospital setting.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $198,000 – $297,000 annually
Responsibilities
Render compliant status determinations for hospitalized patients
Conduct peer-to-peer reviews with payors’ medical directors
Review short inpatient stays and observation patients on a daily basis
Engage with medical staff and leadership to support utilization management initiatives
Attend utilization management committees as a subject matter expert
Assist with denials and appeals as needed
Educate medical staff on utilization management topics
Qualifications
MD or DO required
5+ years of experience in utilization management
Strong understanding of payor processes and peer-to-peer interactions
Proven ability to develop relationships with medical staff and leadership
Experience reviewing denial trends and implementing strategies
Excellent communication and executive leadership skills
