Member of the Technical Staff - Data Platform

For our client, we are seeking a Member of the Technical Staff - Data Platform to join the team of a leader in the Aerospace & Defense space.
This role will shape the core data platform that powers batch and real-time integrations, analytics, and AI initiatives across the organization. The position partners closely with product, engineering, data science, and compliance stakeholders to define scalable architectures and data standards. It will also play a key leadership role in strengthening governance, reliability, and technical excellence across the data ecosystem.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $232,000 – $348,000 annually
Responsibilities
Design and implement a versatile data platform for batch and real-time integrations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical strategies with product goals.
Define guidelines for data ingestion, modeling, ETL processes, and storage solutions.
Mentor team members while promoting engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
Ensure data protection compliance and high availability through robust monitoring.
Drive efficiency and scalability through strategic architectural decisions.
Support data scientists by enhancing infrastructure for analytics and AI initiatives.
Make key decisions on technology selection and roadmap planning for data architecture.
Qualifications
8+ years in data engineering or architecture roles, including 5+ years at the Principal Engineer level.
Experience with large-scale data infrastructures in fast-paced environments.
Familiarity with Kafka ecosystem technologies, including Kafka Streams and Confluent Platform.
Proficient in cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Strong background in data governance and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication skills for diverse stakeholder engagement.
Leadership ability with experience mentoring others and advocating standards.
