Role Description
This is a full-time, remote role for a Mandarin OR Cantonese ⇄ English Medical Interpreter working via Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI). Day-to-day tasks include accurately interpreting spoken communication between patients, families, and healthcare professionals in Russian and English, ensuring clarity, neutrality, and confidentiality at all times. The interpreter will handle medical appointments, consultations, follow-up calls, and administrative interactions, adhering to industry standards and ethical guidelines. Responsibilities also include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, using company-provided platforms and tools, attending periodic training sessions, and following established procedures for scheduling, documentation, and quality assurance. Both experienced and inexperienced candidates are encouraged to apply, as training and support may be provided.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Interpreting skills to facilitate clear, accurate communication in healthcare settings.
Candidates should possess Medical Terminology knowledge in both English and Chinese to interpret clinical information reliably.
Ability to maintain professionalism, neutrality, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and relevant privacy regulations.
Reliable internet connection, suitable remote work setup, and comfort using OPI/VRI and cloud-based communication platforms.
Relevant training or certification in medical interpretation is preferred; prior experience in healthcare or call center environments is an advantage.
Strong customer service orientation, cultural sensitivity, and ability to work flexible schedules to support 24/7 operations.
Willingness to complete a 2 week training (10 business days) for candidates with no prior experience in remote medical interpretation.
