Role Description This is a full-time, remote role for Spanish-English Medical Interpreters providing Over-the-Phone Interpretation (OPI) and Video Remote Interpretation (VRI). Day-to-day responsibilities include accurately interpreting medical information between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals in real time, ensuring clarity, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity. Interpreters will manage scheduled and on-demand calls or video sessions, follow established protocols, and adhere to healthcare privacy and compliance requirements. The role involves working with diverse medical settings, using company-provided platforms, documenting sessions as required, and participating in ongoing training to maintain high standards of service. Team members are expected to maintain professional conduct, meet performance targets, and collaborate with coordinators and support staff across time zones.
Qualifications
Strong Medical Interpretation and Interpreting skills, with the ability to facilitate accurate and neutral communication between Spanish and English speakers.
Proficiency in Medical Terminology in both Spanish and English, particularly in clinical, hospital, and telehealth environments.
Experience or training in Simultaneous Interpretation, especially in fast-paced medical contexts.
Ability to perform accurate Translation of brief medical documents or patient instructions when needed.
Native or near-native fluency in both Spanish and English, with excellent listening and speaking skills.
Prior experience as a medical interpreter, preferably in remote OPI or VRI settings.
Certification or formal training in medical interpreting (e.g., CMI, CCHI, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
Reliable high-speed internet, a quiet and private workspace, and appropriate computer equipment and headset.
Understanding of patient confidentiality, HIPAA or similar privacy regulations, and professional ethics in healthcare.
Strong time management, ability to work full-time across varying shifts, and comfort with using cloud-based platforms and call center tools.
