Role Description
In collaboration with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Cloud / Platform Architect is responsible for defining and evolving the architecture of the company’s SaaS platform, designing a cloud infrastructure that is scalable, resilient, secure, and highly observable.
The role ensures technological consistency and the maintenance of high engineering standards through the adoption of Platform Engineering principles.
The Cloud / Platform Architect also works closely with the Cyber Security team to ensure the security and compliance of the SaaS platform and its underlying infrastructure, while defining robust observability practices to ensure reliability, performance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, including cloud-native components such as Kubernetes, networking, IAM (Identity & Access Management), and Secrets Management systems.
Drive infrastructure automation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or Pulumi, adopting GitOps methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
Define, implement, and continuously evolve the platform’s observability capabilities, including centralized logging, metrics collection, distributed tracing, dashboards, alerting systems, and service health monitoring.
Define and maintain reliability frameworks based on SLIs (Service Level Indicators), SLOs (Service Level Objectives), and SLAs (Service Level Agreements), enabling proactive performance management and operational visibility.
Define observability standards and best practices to improve troubleshooting, incident detection, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and platform performance optimization.
Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that observability and monitoring are embedded into applications and infrastructure by design, with appropriate instrumentation and the collection of actionable telemetry data.
Ensure technical security and compliance through infrastructure hardening, access management, and patch management, in coordination with the Security team.
Define and maintain operational resilience practices, including backup and recovery strategies, Disaster Recovery plans, recovery testing, and operational runbooks.
Provide third-level (L3) technical support for infrastructure incidents and lead continuous improvement initiatives through post-mortems, preventive actions, and operational reviews.
Contribute to the definition of platform standards, architectural principles, and best practices shared across engineering teams.
Qualifications
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience with Kubernetes and Cloud-Native architectures.
Strong experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform), including the design, implementation, and management of cloud solutions.
Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems and Windows Server.
Good proficiency in major scripting languages.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD (Continuous Integration & Continuous Delivery) pipelines for automating the development and deployment of cloud solutions.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Full professional proficiency in both Italian and English.
Bonus points
Experience managing Microsoft 365 accounts and Microsoft Entra ID.
Previous experience as a Software Developer.
Knowledge of the Java ecosystem.

National Collective Labour Agreement (CCNL): Commerce sector.
Gross Annual Salary (RAL): €60,000–€75,000 + 10% MBO (Management by Objectives) bonus.
