Job Summary:
The Material Master Data Specialist is responsible for the creation, maintenance, governance, and quality of material master records within SAP and downstream sytems. This role ensures material data is accurate, complete, consistent, and compliant with established data governance standards to support procurement, manufacturing, inventory management, sales, and financial reporting processes.

A Shared Services Center (SSC) centralizes essential business processes, creating streamlined operations, cost efficiencies, and consistent quality. By consolidating areas such as finance, procurement, payroll, and reporting, SSC fosters innovation, supports strategic goals, and enhances organizational effectiveness. SSC’s primary functions include:
O2C (Order-to-Cash): Ensures smooth revenue processes from customer order to payment.
R2R (Record-to-Report): Provides accurate financial reporting and robust accounting processes.
P2P (Procure-to-Pay): Ensures timely payments to vendors and strengthens supplier relationships.
Center of Excellence: Champions innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Shared Services empowers companies to focus on strategic priorities while maintaining operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Master Maintenance
Create, update, extend, block, and deactivate material master records.
Maintain material attributes including descriptions, material groups, units of measure, valuation data, plant data, and sales views.
Process material master requests in accordance with SLA requirements and governance policies.
Perform data corrections as needed.
Data Quality & Governance
Monitor and maintain material master data quality standards.
Perform data validation and identify duplicate, incomplete, or inaccurate records.
Support data cleansing, standardization, and enrichment initiatives.
Ensure compliance with master data governance policies and procedures.
Process Support
Collaborate with local team to support material onboarding, and hierarchy maintenance.
Troubleshoot material master-related issues and resolve data discrepancies.
Participate in testing and collaborate with local teams to set and enforcegovernance standards and system enhancements.
Compliance & Controls
Adhere to internal control requirements.
Maintain audit-ready documentation for master data changes.
Ensure proper approvals and supporting documentation are obtained before processing requests.
Support internal and external audits related to material master data.
Continuous Improvement
Develop and maintain data quality reports and metrics.
Monitor KPIs such as data accuracy, completeness, duplicate rate, and request turnaround times.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience (required).
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in Material Master Data Management, Supply Chain, Procurement, or SAP Master Data.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA, SAP ECC, or similar ERP systems.
Knowledge of material master structures and business processes.
Experience with data analysis would be an advantage
Skills:
Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Understanding of data governance principles.
Experience with workflow tools such as ServiceNow.
Knowledge of MDM platforms (Informatica MDM or equivalent).
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment:
Hybrid role with 3 days in office.
