Work Transfer Specialist

Ontic, a leading licensor and manufacturer of complex engineering parts for the global aerospace and defence industries, are now recruiting for a Work Transfer Specialist to join our team at our Staverton site, where you'll support the planning and execution of strategic supplier and manufacturing work transfer initiatives across the business. This role will involve approximately 30% travel.

The Role:
Reporting to the Commodity Workstream Leaders, you'll take ownership of assigned work transfer projects from initial planning through to production stabilisation, coordinating supplier-to-supplier and supplier site-to-site manufacturing transfers while maintaining continuity of supply and minimising disruption to our operations and customers.
Working closely with teams across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Procurement and Program Management, as well as our external suppliers, you'll develop and manage project plans, schedules, milestones and risk mitigation activities to ensure transfers are delivered safely, effectively and on time.
You'll coordinate all aspects of transfer readiness, including technical data package reviews, tooling and equipment transfers, inventory planning, qualification activities and production ramp-up. You'll also support First Article Inspection (FAI), validation and supplier qualification activities, ensuring all requirements are met before production approval.
A key part of the role will be identifying and managing risks that could impact schedule, quality, cost or customer commitments. You'll monitor progress against key milestones, drive accountability across project teams and provide clear status updates, recovery plans and escalation of issues to leadership and key stakeholders.
You'll also ensure work transfer activities meet applicable customer, regulatory and quality management requirements, supporting strong configuration management, document control and change management throughout the transfer lifecycle. As projects are completed, you'll capture lessons learned and help continuously improve Ontic's work transfer processes and governance.

To be successful in this role, you'll have a Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline, together with around 3–7 years' experience in project management, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, sourcing, industrialisation or work transfer within a manufacturing environment. Experience within the Aerospace & Defence sector would be particularly advantageous.
You'll have demonstrable experience managing complex, cross-functional projects involving suppliers, engineering, operations and quality teams, with the organisational skills to manage multiple concurrent work transfers and competing priorities.
You'll be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, technical specifications, bills of material and manufacturing documentation, with a good understanding of manufacturing processes, production planning and supplier qualification activities.
You'll also bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify project risks, develop effective mitigation plans and track milestones and key performance indicators through to completion.
Experience using ERP systems and project management tools is important, while proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI or similar analytical tools would be beneficial.
You'll be an effective communicator who can influence stakeholders across a global matrix organisation, build strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams, and communicate project status and technical issues clearly at both working and leadership level.
Knowledge of configuration management, document control and change management processes, together with an understanding of AS9100 quality systems and applicable Aerospace & Defence regulatory requirements, including FAA and ITAR/EAR, would also be advantageous.
