Senior Rust Developer

Role Description
This is a full-time/ part-time remote role for a Senior Rust Developer at Leino. The Senior Rust Developer will design, implement, and maintain robust, high-performance services and applications using Rust, with a focus on reliability, security, and scalability. Responsibilities include writing clean, testable code, conducting code reviews, optimizing performance, and collaborating with cross-functional teams such as product, DevOps, and QA. The role involves translating business requirements into technical solutions, troubleshooting production issues, and contributing to architectural decisions and technical documentation. The Senior Rust Developer will also mentor other engineers, promote best practices, and help refine development processes in distributed teams.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in Rust, including ownership/borrowing, concurrency, and memory management, as well as experience with common Rust ecosystems (Cargo, crates, async frameworks).
Experience building backend services, APIs, or microservices, with knowledge of system design, distributed systems, and performance optimization.
Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
Hands-on experience with testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and modern development workflows in remote teams.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes) is highly beneficial.
Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and other engineers, with strong communication and documentation skills.
Experience mentoring or leading other developers, especially in complex or high-availability environments, is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
