About the Function:
Supply Chain & Manufacturing is where our brands are made, moved and delivered to the world. With over half of our people working across more than 100 sites, this is a complex, large-scale operation that brings together production, logistics, engineering and supplier partnerships.
It’s fast-paced and hands-on, with teams working together to ensure quality, efficiency and sustainability at every stage. From sourcing ingredients to getting products into customers’ hands, you’ll play a role in delivering the brands people know and love.
About the Role
This role is based at Diageo’s Leven packaging site. Leven packages a huge volume of Scotch malt whiskies, white spirits and ready to drink brands to supply over 170 countries around the world and is a key manufacturing site within the Scotch supply category.
As a Mechanical Production Engineer within our team at Leven, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem-solving, and improvement of all mechanical assets to maximize their availability across the site.
Key responsibilities:
Collaborate with operations teams, CAPEX, and other maintenance groups to drive operational performance and improvements.
Engage with operations teams and maintenance personnel to deliver and review mandatory and requested maintenance with minimal production impact, ensuring the availability of spare parts for scheduled maintenance tasks.
Implement and develop maintenance programs aimed at supporting and improving asset performance and utilization.
Respond promptly to plant breakdowns, identifying and repairing root causes to minimize downtime.
Report maintenance outcomes via SAP to ensure the sharing of best practices.
Uphold health and safety compliance and maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of work.
Health and safety compliance is key, and you will be at the forefront of making sure this is monitored alongside ensuring both site and personal KPI’s are achieved.
Shifts
As a Weekend Production Mechanical Engineer, you will work Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 am to 7 pm with rotating nights 1 weekend out of 3 from 7 pm to 7 am.
Experience/skills required:
To be successful in this role, we’re looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills and can communicate at all levels We would love to talk to someone who can use initiative and push forward their own ideas whilst offering guidance and support for our current approaches.
Key skills and experience:
Relevant qualifications and have demonstrable knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and environmental risk principles
Experience in a production/FMCG environment desirable
Can work well within a team as well as the ability to make effective decisions and thrive in situations where they can solve problems
Able to push forward your own ideas about improvements to current approaches and appraise new opportunities. A desire to make a positive difference to manufacturing excellence.
Desirable skills and experience: (Preferable but not essential)
Fabricating and welding
Machining background
IOSH or similar safety qualifications
Packaging / bottling hall experience
