Position Summary:
The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology is seeking a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CAA/CRNA). This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at the Children's Wisconsin hospital campus. This role will work with a medically directed team involving faculty anesthesiologists, anesthesiology fellows, residents and advanced practice certified nurse anesthetists and CAAs. The successful candidate must possess the ability to provide high quality anesthesia care to a complex patient population, working directly under the supervision of our Adult Anesthesiologists and as part of a team of highly trained and dedicated team of CAAs and certified nurse anesthetists.
Position Highlights:
Function as a CAA/CRNA under the medical direction of a pediatric anesthesiologist.
Administer general and local anesthesia
Maintain anesthesia delivery systems and monitors, including testing and calibration
Prepare patients to be effectively monitored
Monitor patients under anesthesia
Make recommendations regarding anesthetic care plans
Perform post-procedure tests on patients to ensure that they are recovering well
Responsible for the operation of anesthesia equipment to monitor patients while delivering direct anesthesia care.
Provide direct patient care before, during and after anesthesia to ensure continuity of care and quality.
Obtain complete patient medical histories, conducting physical exams, and pre-procedure interviews
Review the complete patient medical history to confirm its authenticity with the patient/family to ensure it is accurate with the physical exams and pre-procedure interviews
Administer/order required diagnostic and laboratory tests
Work with Anesthesiologists to determine the next step of prep for the procedures and begin the stages of prepping the patient for the procedure
Employ CPR or other emergency procedures as indicated
Perform various administrative duties that might involve collecting medical records, conducting patient chart reviews, and following up with patients/families pre or post procedures.

Since its inception the department has experienced robust clinical, scientific, and academic growth; and has been consistently recognized on regional, national and international levels for leadership and innovation. The Department of Anesthesiology has a team of 140 Anesthesiologists, 46 Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants, 65 Certified Registered Nursing Anesthetists, 21 Advanced Practice Professionals, and 86 Residents and Fellows. We provide more than 63,000 anesthetics annually, in more than 100 anesthetizing locations our operating rooms and out-of-operating room locations in our five hospitals and four surgery centers.
Our well-established research division utilizes both clinical and preclinical research approaches to generate critical new knowledge and advance anesthesia care delivery.

Preferred Experience:
Previous CAA/CRNA experience in Adult Anesthesiology or Adult Health Care experience a plus!
Minimum Education:
CAA: Master’s of Science in Anesthesiology
CRNA: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing
Certification:
Candidates can be either a Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant or Certified Nurse Anesthetists
AHA BCLS and/or ACLS required
Board eligible for certification are also encouraged to apply
Licensure:
Unrestricted Wisconsin licensure or eligible
AHA BCLS and/or ACLS

In 2026-2027, CW and CSG had six specialties ranked by US News & World Report: cancer; gastroenterology and GI surgery; nephrology, neurology, and neurosurgery; pulmonology and Urology.
