Contract Title Landman — HBP Title, Texas (Remote)
Clovis Energy is seeking an experienced Contract Title Landman to support ongoing title curative and HBP (Held By Production) title work across our Texas operating areas. This is a remote, contract engagement ideal for an independent landman with a strong track record in running and curing title in Texas counties.
Responsibilities
Run and analyze title for HBP leases, building complete chains of title from county courthouse records
Prepare detailed runsheets and title opinions/summaries identifying ownership, working interest, and royalty interest
Identify and resolve title curative issues, including probate matters, missing heirs, defective conveyances, outstanding liens, and gaps in the chain of title
Research county clerk records (in-person and via online platforms such as TexasFile, county ORT systems, etc.) across multiple Texas counties
Track and report status of assigned tracts/leases on a regular basis
Coordinate with project manager to maintain weekly progress updates
Qualifications
5+ years of experience as a landman, with a demonstrated focus on running HBP title in Texas
Strong working knowledge of Texas oil and gas law, including community property, probate/heirship issues, and homestead considerations as they affect title
Proven ability to independently research and resolve complex title curative matters
Experience building runsheets and chains of title from raw courthouse records
Comfortable working across multiple Texas county courthouse systems (online and in-person, as needed, research)
Strong self-management skills — this is a remote, independent contractor role requiring reliable follow-through with minimal oversight
Own reliable computer/internet and ability to travel to county courthouses as needed
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with landman/title tracking software a plus
Preferred
AAPL certification (CPL, RL, or RPL)
Errors & Omissions insurance (or willingness to obtain)
