Technical Product Manager - Principal 1

The Technical Product Manager - Principal 1 owns the end-to-end product strategy and technical vision for complex, high-impact product lines or platforms, driving alignment across multiple teams, programs, and business units. Serves as the authoritative voice on architecture-informed product decisions, translating enterprise-level business strategy into a multi-quarter roadmap. Provides technical and strategic leadership across the organization, mentoring senior product managers and influencing executive-level decision-making on product direction, investment priorities, and long-term platform evolution.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Owns and evolves the long-term product vision and technical strategy for a major product line, platform, or portfolio, ensuring alignment with enterprise goals and multi-year business strategy.
Architects and governs large-scale, cross-program EPICs and initiatives, proactively identifying systemic dependencies, technical risks, and organizational impacts across multiple teams and business units.
Leads planning and execution of multi-program-increment initiatives, establishing the roadmap narrative that connects individual features to broader company strategy.
Partners directly with senior executives, architects, and cross-functional leaders to shape investment decisions, prioritize competing initiatives, and negotiate trade-offs at an organizational level.
Drives advanced business process modeling and re-engineering efforts (BPMN, value stream mapping, swimlanes) to identify systemic inefficiencies and design scalable future-state processes.
Establishes and enforces standards for requirements elicitation, documentation, and traceability across teams, ensuring consistency and quality at scale.
Defines the framework for feature definition and prioritization, ensuring capabilities map cleanly to strategic business outcomes and technical architecture.
Designs and governs the organization's approach to success metrics, including adoption, performance, throughput, and value realization, and reports outcomes to senior leadership.
Mentors and coaches senior and mid-level product managers, elevating team-wide product management maturity and technical acumen.
Acts as an escalation point for the most complex, ambiguous, or high-risk product and technical challenges, providing solution-based direction with minimal oversight.
Represents the product organization in governance forums, architecture review boards, and executive planning sessions.
What you’ll need to do successful:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree (MBA, technical master's) preferred.
3 – 5 years of relevant experience, including significant experience operating at a strategic or enterprise level.
Recognized subject-matter expert in technical product management, business process modeling, and enterprise-scale product strategy.
Deep technical fluency, with the ability to engage credibly with architects and engineering leadership on system design and technical trade-offs.
Proven track record of shaping multi-year roadmaps and influencing enterprise or organization-wide strategic decisions.
Exceptional stakeholder management skills, including experience facilitating executive-level workshops and cross-organizational alignment sessions.
Advanced expertise in requirements traceability frameworks, governance models, and documentation standards at scale.
Deep expertise in defining, tracking, and reporting on success metrics tied to strategic business outcomes.
Demonstrated experience mentoring and developing other product management professionals.

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States, with the exception of Alaska.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Low (N1): $111,122 - $166,583
Mid (N2): $116,970 - $175,350
High (N3): $128,667 - $192,885
Top (N4): $134,516 - $201,653
