Role Description The Vice President of Engineering is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading the technical vision and execution of the society’s digital platforms, tools, and infrastructure. This role oversees engineering teams, sets development standards, and ensures delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable software solutions that support educational programs, events, and community engagement. Day-to-day activities include managing engineering roadmaps, prioritizing projects in alignment with strategic goals, coordinating with product and operations stakeholders, and monitoring system performance and quality. The Vice President of Engineering mentors team members, improves engineering processes, and evaluates new technologies that can enhance user experience and organizational efficiency. The role also involves budget planning for engineering initiatives and clear communication of technical decisions and progress to leadership.
Qualifications
Demonstrated skills in Engineering Management and Team Leadership, including building, mentoring, and scaling diverse engineering teams.
Strong background in Software Development, with experience designing, implementing, and maintaining modern web or cloud-based applications.
Proficiency in Project Management, including planning, prioritization, risk management, and cross-functional coordination.
Experience in Product Development, collaborating with stakeholders to define requirements, roadmap features, and deliver user-centered solutions.
Proven ability to operate in a remote, distributed environment with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Familiarity with financial technology, data analytics, or platforms supporting education and events is an advantage.
Track record of strategic thinking, problem-solving, and promoting inclusive, non-discriminatory team culture.
