About the Role
Cloud IQ Technologies is seeking a Lead Data Platform Modernization Architect to spearhead the transformation of our enterprise data platform from a legacy SQL Server/SSIS/ADF stack to a Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse. You will design and implement a secure, scalable, and governed medallion architecture (Bronze–Silver–Gold) and enable true self-service analytics across business domains.
This is a hands-on leadership role, blending architecture, delivery, and enablement. You will partner with business and technology stakeholders, lead technical teams, and define patterns and standards that become the blueprint for Cloud IQ’s data platform.

The Opportunity
We're modernizing a legacy SQL Server/SSIS/ADF platform into a governed Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse — and we need someone who's done this before to lead it. You'll own the architecture, drive the migration hands-on, and build the patterns that become our long-term blueprint. This isn't a whiteboard-only role: you'll be in the pipelines as much as in stakeholder meetings.
You're a strong fit if you have:
Production experience architecting Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse solutions (OneLake, Medallion Bronze-Silver-Gold, Delta Lake)
Hands-on history migrating legacy ETL (SSIS, ADF, SQL Server) into Fabric-native pipelines
Practical experience with data governance in Azure/Fabric — Purview or equivalent (lineage, classification, PII/PHI handling)
Comfort operating as both architect and individual contributor — you'll design the standard and also build the first version of it
Nice to have (not dealbreakers):
Experience decommissioning SSRS/Crystal Reports in favor of Power BI
Background supporting Data Science/ML teams with curated datasets
Consulting or multi-client delivery experience
Fabric/Azure certifications (DP-600, DP-700, Azure Solutions Architect)
Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare)
What you'll actually do:
Design the target-state Fabric architecture and lead the SSIS/ADF → Fabric migration end-to-end
Establish domain ownership patterns (ingestion teams own Bronze/Silver, LOB teams own curated Gold)
Implement security, RBAC, and governance controls for sensitive data
Mentor a small cross-functional team (data engineers, BI developers) and run enablement sessions as the platform scales.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience in consulting or multi-client environments, delivering data platform modernizations.
Background supporting Data Science/ML teams with curated datasets and feature engineering workflows.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer / Azure Solutions Architect / Fabric Analytics Engineer).
Experience in regulated industries (e.g., financial services, healthcare) and associated compliance requirements.
