ABOUT ENGINEERING TOMORROW
Engineering Tomorrow is a nonprofit organization working to shape the future of engineering by broadening access to engineering education. We bring no-cost, hands-on engineering labs to middle and high school students nationwide, making math and science tangible through real-world applications, problem-solving, mentorship, and interaction with professional engineers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Engineering Tomorrow is seeking professional engineers to serve as Presenting Engineers during LIVE virtual sessions with middle and high school classrooms.
Presenting Engineers connect with students through 30-minute Zoom sessions centered on Engineering Tomorrow’s hands-on labs and engineering design challenges. They explain engineering concepts, discuss real-world applications, guide students through the design process, and share what it is like to pursue an engineering education and career.
For many participating students, their Presenting Engineer may be the first professional engineer they have ever met. This role offers an opportunity to help students see what is possible and recognize their own potential in engineering.
Every session is co-led with a trained College Mentor, giving the Presenting Engineer a partner in the virtual classroom.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead engaging LIVE Zoom presentations for middle and high school students
• Explain the key engineering and scientific concepts connected to each lab
• Introduce lab activities and engineering design challenges
• Help students troubleshoot, build, and test their designs
• Discuss student projects and ask questions about their design decisions
• Connect lab topics to real-world engineering projects and applications
• Answer questions about engineering, college, and career pathways
• Share relevant professional, educational, and personal experiences
• Inspire and motivate students to consider engineering in high school, college, and beyond
• Coordinate with an assigned College Mentor before each session
• Review the provided lab materials and presentation resources before presenting
• Submit brief feedback and record session hours after each session
SESSION FORMATS
Presenting Engineers may participate at different stages of the engineering design process:
Introduction: Teach background information, introduce fundamental engineering concepts, and explain the lab activity.
Build and Test: Help students troubleshoot their designs and better understand concepts related to the lab.
Discuss: Invite student groups to present their designs, offer constructive feedback, and ask questions about their design choices.

• Personal education and career journeys
QUALIFICATIONS
• Degree from an accredited engineering program
• Ability to explain technical ideas clearly and in age-appropriate language
• Comfortable presenting and engaging with students through Zoom
• Enthusiasm for mentoring young people and broadening access to engineering
• Strong communication, preparation, and collaboration skills
• Reliable internet access and the ability to join sessions on time
