About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Independent medical practices are leaving millions in unclaimed revenue on the table. We help them get it back. We're hiring the person who will bring us the next 100 clients.
About Happy Billing
Happy Billing (happybilling.co) is a boutique medical billing company built for independent US healthcare practices. Our wedge is out-of-network revenue recovery and denied-claim rework: the work generic RCM vendors won't touch and in-house teams don't have the bandwidth to chase.
We're founder-led, profitable, and growing. We've proven the offer works. Now we need a sales leader to build the engine that scales it.
About the role
This is a founding sales role. You'll own the full cycle: prospecting, outreach, discovery, proposal, close, and handoff to our operations team. Not a pure hunter, not a pure closer; you own the number, end to end, and you build the playbook that the next 3–5 hires will run on.
You'll work directly with the founder. Decisions are fast. Your input on positioning, pricing, ICP refinement, and channel strategy will land in production the same week.
What you'll do
Own new-client acquisition: pipeline generation through closed contract
Run 8–15 discovery calls per week with practice owners and office managers
Build and refine our outbound motion across email, LinkedIn, and phone
Develop and document the sales playbook: ICP, messaging, objection library, discovery framework, proposal template
Feed back into the product: which specialties buy, which pain points close, which pricing structures land
Represent Happy Billing at industry events (HBMA, MGMA state chapters, specialty association meetings)
Who we're looking for
Required
4+ years of B2B sales experience with at least 2 years selling into US healthcare providers — medical billing, RCM, EHR/EMR, practice management software, medical devices, or clinical services
Demonstrated ability to run a full sales cycle from cold to close (send us your numbers, not your titles)
Comfort with a $10K–$100K annual contract value, multi-stakeholder deals with practice owners, office managers, and sometimes CFOs
Native or near-native English, based in the US
Comfortable in a founder-led, no-playbook-yet environment where the answer to "who does this?" is often "you"
Bonus points for
Direct experience selling medical billing or RCM services (not adjacent — the real thing)
Existing relationships with independent practice owners, MSOs, or specialty association leadership
Working knowledge of out-of-network vs in-network billing, denial workflows, A/R aging, credentialing
Experience building a sales function from zero to first repeatable process
Not the right fit if
You've only sold to enterprise (10K+ employees) and haven't touched SMB
You need a full marketing and SDR team to hit quota
You want a role where the playbook is already written and you execute someone else's plan
Work arrangement
Yes
