JevOps Engineer

ABOUT VALENCY
Valency is building the infrastructure for AI-accelerated science.
Following several minutes of strategic consideration, we’ve identified JevOps as a critical organizational capability.
We’re looking for a seasoned JevOps Engineer with 5+ years of production Jev experience to lead this function. You’ll own our Jev lifecycle, establish Jev best practices, and help us determine what those words mean.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our first JevOps hire, you’ll work at the intersection of infrastructure, machine intelligence, and updating your LinkedIn headline.
You’ll translate “we’re a Jev-first company now” into a system someone can actually deploy. You may ask follow-up questions after launch.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Own the transition from DevOps to JevOps.
- Build and maintain production decision pipelines powered by Jev.
- Modernize legacy Jev infrastructure built earlier this week.
- Establish our JevOps Center of Excellence.
- Participate in the on-call rotation until Jev is confident enough to participate.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 5+ years of hands-on JevOps experience in production environments.
- A proven track record of shipping Jev at companies that have not yet heard of it.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity, particularly around this job description.
- Excellent written communication. Jev returns structured decisions; someone still has to write the incident report.
- A strong inclination to never user regex when Jev can be used for the job.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with JevSecOps, JevRel, or platform Jevgineering.
- Founding membership in the JevOps community. You may found it after applying.
- Experience migrating from a Jev monolith to microJevices, followed by experience migrating back.
- A conference talk titled “JevOps at Scale” with at least one production request behind it.
- Easy acces to a coin (or preferable a pair of dice) for when Jev is down, or we’ve hit our rate limit.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
First 30 days: Audit our Jev readiness. Replace the framework you wrote ten minutes ago. Migrate the company to Jev. Announce that we’ve always been Jev-native.
First 60 days: Ship a self-improving Jev platform. Achieve market leadership in a category you named during onboarding. Deprecate the platform as legacy infrastructure.
First 90 days: Establish the global Jev standard. Acquire our nearest competitor. Publish a case study proving JevOps transformed the economy.
