Operations Financial Analyst

This position is ideally suited for candidates located in Canada, but we are open to considering strong candidates based in the U.S. Options for hybrid / virtual.
The Operations Analyst role is responsible for performing standardized or routine professional accounting and financial analysis work for Americas North Operations. The primary job duties include the compilation, consolidation & analysis of financial data related to operations. Incumbent must have an understanding of accounting and accounting principles, working knowledge of recording, examining, and analyzing data and financial transactions.
Responsibilities:
Manage the preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, & annual reporting requirements as instructed by division
Participate in month-end and year-end closing and ensure an effective and efficient system of internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
Review, validate, and code vendor invoices, work with AP to resolve discrepancies
Support in various Source-to-Pay duties such as creation of purchase orders, matching of goods receipts, create vendor accounts, analyze variances
Drive process improvements in analytics and procedures related to workflow
High degree of interactions with cross functional departments including finance, manufacturing, accounts payable, supply chain, and procurement
Complete financial analysis to identify issues, report on performance and drive continuous improvement
Provide timely and insightful analytics to Americas North Operations team that anticipates change and drives decision making, leverage understanding of key business fundamentals to improve operating efficiencies and profitability
Assist in the analysis and preparation of financial models, including business cases, forecasts, and budgets, within Americas North Operations
Support in proper recording of GST/HST paid on purchases in Canada
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance preferred
Strong knowledge of desktop financial systems; i.e. Microsoft Office, etc.
Strong knowledge working in an ERP system, preferably SAP
Minimum of three or more years of related experience, 5-7 years preferred; previous plant experience strongly desired
Understanding of Sales and Use Tax in Canada under the Canadian VAT system
