Position Overview
The Scale Floater is responsible for supporting aggregate, asphalt, and construction-material operations by performing scale house functions, customer service, ticketing, dispatch support, and administrative duties at multiple plant, pit, quarry, and construction locations across the Northern Wasatch Front.
*This is a temporary position,projected to last approximately 6 to 9 months.*
Key Responsibilities
Operate truck scales and accurately process inbound and outbound material transactions.
Generate scale tickets, delivery documentation, invoices, and related records.
Provide professional customer service to drivers, contractors, vendors, and customers.
Support dispatch, trucking logistics, and production scheduling activities.
Maintain accurate data entry, reporting, and daily transaction reconciliations.
Assist plant and operations teams with administrative and clerical tasks.
Follow all company safety policies and regulatory requirements.
Provide scale house and office coverage at multiple aggregate, asphalt, quarry, and construction locations as needed.
Communicate effectively with plant personnel, dispatchers, and customers to ensure efficient operations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support safe and productive operations.

Education/Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Work Requirements
1-3 years of experience in scale operations, customer service, administrative support, logistics, trucking, construction materials, or a related industry preferred.
Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and data entry systems.
Ability to accurately process transactions, maintain records, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to travel between locations and work flexible schedules as needed.
Experience in aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix, heavy civil construction, or trucking operations is preferred.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ration, percent, land to draw and interpret bar graphs
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have a strong working knowledge of Database software.
Excellent customer service skills
Knowledge of scales and rock products is helpful
