Doctoral Instructor Part Time – University Research Methodologist (URM) Virtual

About The Position
A Doctoral Instructor (Doctoral Faculty) supports the overall instructional and academic excellence of their respective doctoral program/content area. An individual coordinates with central administration and various stakeholders to inform University leadership about the changing needs of specific student populations for the purpose of continual quality improvement of education programs.
What You’ll Do
Serve as a faculty teaching within the program curricula for online, residency or dissertation classes; teach up to five classes within the academic year in accordance with teaching practices identified in the Faculty Handbook and by the practicing College and University administration; effectively use a mentor/coach approach to build productive educational relationships with students.
Serve on dissertation committees or in an assigned role as a project chair, resource specialist, research methodologist, statistician, IRB expert, or panel validator; develop and maintain strong relationships by serving as a program resource for college and/or academic staff, faculty and students, and serve as a liaison for the College.
Support the research methodology team by peer reviewing content for publication.
Apply flexibility and creativity in meeting student needs, ensuring availability to students, responding to student issues and concerns, as needed, inside and outside of the classroom, based on the learning environment and according to University and College policy and instructional standards.
Assist in developing and maintaining the quality and integrity of the College’s respective doctoral program, including the development and implementation of program goals and program integrity; Participate in programmatic accreditation activities, committees, and attendance at required meetings and student forums.
Participate in and lead task forces and committees, which includes participating in the planning, implementation, and coordination of activities to maximize service quality effectiveness and efficiency, as required; represent and address academic concerns with academic leadership.
Maintain a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, to support student development and progression; hold open office hours to accommodate student development and progression.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the curricula by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies and developing an annual personal research or scholarship agenda that includes publication or presentation to a larger academic community; maintain a general knowledge of emerging issues and trends related to the respective doctoral studies.
Work remotely and maintain a home office environment, that is conducive to professionalism and student privacy, with capability of video conferencing for all College meetings.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Doctoral Instructor - University Research Methodologist (URM)
Doctoral degree in a field related to the content of the academic program
Doctorate in Business, Education, Healthcare or related degree requiring the successful completion of a dissertation
Must have 6 doctoral level credits in research methodologies (excluding dissertation or thesis credits)
Five (5) years of recent and proven experience in a field related to the content of the academic program
Five (5) years of experience leading doctoral faculty in online and face-to-face to advance instructional excellence and promote student success
Degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution.
Must be a current University of Phoenix Associate Faculty member
Additional Requirements For Specific Programs/Content Areas
Have current graduate scholarship on file.
Complete the self-guided Dissertation Chair Training Refresher (DCTR) annually
Must have 1 year of teaching experience in higher education
Experience working in higher education with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of doctoral students
Proven ability to promote student learning success in doctoral studies in the areas of writing, critical thinking, and research
Knowledge of adult education principles/practices, curriculum development and academic content area
Experience working in higher education with a diverse, multi-disciplinary group of doctoral students
Familiarity with adult educational experience and in the retention motivation of adult learners
SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENT:
Enhanced Scholarship: 1) Presentation that is peer-reviewed and given in an academic or professional setting, 2) Peer reviewed and non-peer reviewed articles that are submitted or accepted to appear in an academic, professional, or scholarly journal are applicable if they fall under the Scholarship of Discovery domain of the Boyer Model. (Includes: An editor of a book or review of chapters in an edited book). Self-published manuscripts do not count, or 3) White Paper that is peer-reviewed and submitted or accepted for publication by a professional organization or educational institution. If faculty do not currently meet this requirement, they may still be qualified however, they have one year from the date the content area is approved to come into compliance with this Enhanced Graduate Scholarship requirement to maintain the content area approval.

Proven experience as a scholar, practitioner, leader in one of the industries relative to our doctoral degree program
Able to convey a professional image and effectively represent the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the community as well as in all professional social media profiles such as LinkedIn
Experience w/ doctoral-level education
High level of problem solving and decision-making abilities to respond to student issues and concerns, evaluate students for retention, assess student work and abilities and facilitate the doctoral learning experience
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, employees and external parties
