About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

About Alberta Co-operative Energy (ACE)
Alberta Co-operative Energy (ACE) is a member-owned, community-focused energy retailer providing competitive electricity and natural gas options across Alberta. Built on co-operative values, ACE reinvests in local communities and delivers energy solutions transparently, ethically, and with a uniquely cooperative approach to member service.
ACE operates primarily as an e-business with a lean, flat organizational structure. Team members work closely across functions, take broad ownership of their area, and have direct visibility into governance and strategic decision-making.
About the Role
ACE is seeking a Marketing & Sales Manager to join our team on a contract basis. This role leads ACE's marketing strategy and member-acquisition sales efforts, with a dedicated focus on developing small to mid-size commercial accounts and cultivating community and business partnerships that grow ACE's membership base and market presence.
You'll also act as a senior resource to the Customer Care team, supporting message development for member-facing communications and assisting with escalated member issues. You'll represent ACE externally at industry meetings, conferences, and community events, including delivering sponsorship-related remarks. All work is carried out in strict alignment with contracted terms, company policy, and Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) regulatory standards.
What You'll Do
Lead multi-channel marketing campaigns (SEO, social, web, print) that build ACE's brand and drive member acquisition
Own the sales pipeline for residential and small-to-mid-size commercial accounts, from prospecting through contract close
Manage utility contract pricing models to keep offers competitive
Build and manage partnerships and sponsorships with community organizations, businesses, and industry groups
Act as a senior resource to Customer Care, helping shape member communications and resolve escalated issues
Represent ACE at industry conferences, trade shows, and community events, including public speaking engagements
Ensure all marketing, sales, and partnership activity complies with AUC regulations and company policy
Prepare monthly Board reports and strategic activity summaries
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree or advanced diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field
3–5+ years of sales or marketing leadership experience, ideally in energy retail, utilities, or a co-operative setting
Track record in commercial sales and/or partnership or sponsorship development
Familiarity with the Alberta energy marketplace (WSPs, micro-generation credits, natural gas distribution, pricing models)
Confident public speaker comfortable representing an organization externally
Proficient with CRM platforms and remote collaboration tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
Able to travel periodically for conferences, meetings, and sponsorship events
A quiet home workspace with stable, secure high-speed internet
Contract Details & What We Offer
Independent contract engagement
Fully remote; must reside in and be authorized to work in Alberta
Competitive contract rate based on experience, plus remote-work and travel/conference expense support
Contract length, hours, and salary will be confirmed with the successful candidate in a written independent contractor agreement.
How to Apply
Submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and availability for a contract engagement to Vicki Zinyk (vicki.zinyk@acenergy.ca).
Alberta Co-operative Energy is committed to fair and equitable hiring practices and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates.
