Contract App Developer

About the Role
We’re looking for a Contract App Developer to help bring a new consumer entertainment app to market.
The app is focused on making it easier and more enjoyable for people to discover movies and TV shows they actually want to watch.
We’re looking for someone who can help us get the product off the ground, prepare for launch, and continue managing and improving the app as we grow.
This is a hands-on development role for someone who is comfortable working in an early-stage environment, taking ownership of development work, troubleshooting issues, and helping us make smart technical decisions along the way.
What You’ll Do
Help develop, refine, and prepare the app for launch
Build and implement new features
Manage and maintain the app and codebase
Identify and resolve bugs and performance issues
Work with APIs, databases, and third-party integrations
Support backend functionality and infrastructure
Improve app performance, reliability, and overall user experience
Manage app updates and releases
Translate product ideas and feedback into technical solutions
Collaborate with our team on development priorities and product improvements
Provide ongoing technical support and maintenance after launch
Help evolve the product as we introduce new features and learn from users
What We’re Looking For
Experience developing mobile applications
Experience launching or maintaining consumer-facing apps
Strong understanding of front-end and back-end development
Experience working with APIs, databases, and third-party integrations
Familiarity with mobile app deployment and release processes
Ability to independently troubleshoot and solve technical problems
Comfortable working within and managing an existing codebase
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
Comfortable working independently in an early-stage environment
Organized, reliable, and able to manage development priorities
Proactive about recommending solutions and improvements
Nice to Have
Experience with entertainment, streaming, or media products
Experience building recommendation or discovery features
Experience with personalization or recommendation algorithms
Experience with content-heavy consumer apps
Experience building social or community-based features
Experience working with entertainment/content APIs
Previous startup or early-stage product experience

This is a paid contract position. Compensation will be determined based on experience, availability, and scope of work.
We’re looking for someone who can support the product through launch and ideally continue working with us as the app grows.
