Role Description
The Spanish English Medical Interpreter OPI-VRI is a full-time remote role responsible for providing accurate, impartial interpretation between Spanish and English in medical settings via over-the-phone and video remote platforms. Day-to-day tasks include facilitating communication between patients and healthcare professionals, ensuring medical information, diagnoses, treatment plans, and consent forms are clearly understood by all parties. The interpreter will follow established protocols, maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries, and adhere to industry and organizational standards for quality and ethics. The role also involves preparing for assignments by reviewing relevant terminology, handling urgent and routine calls effectively, and documenting work as required. Collaboration with coordinators and adherence to schedule commitments are key aspects of this position.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Medical Interpretation and Interpreting skills, with proven ability to work in clinical and healthcare environments.
Candidates should possess proficiency in Medical Terminology related to various specialties, enabling clear and accurate communication.
Candidates should possess Simultaneous Interpretation skills for real-time conversations, along with the ability to perform consecutive interpretation when needed.
Candidates should possess Translation abilities for short medical documents or patient information when required.
Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, with excellent listening and speaking skills in both languages.
Prior experience as a medical interpreter, preferably in OPI (over-the-phone interpreting) and VRI (video remote interpreting) contexts.
Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality standards, and applicable healthcare regulations.
Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations.
Reliable internet connection, suitable remote work environment, and comfort using digital communication platforms.
Relevant certification in medical interpreting or completion of formal interpreter training is highly preferred.
