Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Debate Judge at GMT Intelligence. The Debate Judge will evaluate live or recorded debates, assess arguments for clarity, logic, and evidence, and provide objective scores and written feedback. Daily tasks include reviewing debate topics, preparing rubrics or scoring criteria, attending scheduled debate sessions, and documenting decisions in a structured format. The role also involves collaborating with organizers to refine judging standards, ensuring fairness and consistency across debates, and occasionally mentoring participants on effective debate techniques. The Debate Judge is expected to maintain impartiality, uphold community guidelines, and help foster constructive, respectful discourse.
Qualifications
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate complex arguments and evidence fairly.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear, concise feedback tailored to diverse participants.
Experience with debate, public speaking, or academic discussion (e.g., debate clubs, speech competitions, or formal reasoning courses).
Familiarity with online collaboration tools and remote communication platforms; comfortable working fully remote.
High level of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism, with the ability to manage time and meet scheduled sessions reliably.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in fields such as communications, philosophy, law, education, political science, or related disciplines is beneficial.
Interest in technology, innovation, or current events, and willingness to stay informed about relevant topics discussed in debates.
