Key Responsibilities
Close and financial reporting
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close for real estate funds/JVs, co-investment vehicles, and managed properties
Prepare and post journal entries; review property management financial statements
Coordinate with third-party fund administrators, prepare review packages, and resolve open items ahead of CFO sign-off
Prepare quarterly financial analysis and performance return calculations for CFO review
Contribute to the effort to consolidate reporting models into a single standard across all verticals
Cash and treasury operations
Run daily cash operations: review and approve transfers, ensure transactions are booked timely, and execute subscriptions, distributions, invoices, and fee payments
Own monthly cash reconciliations and operate the treasury process
Compliance and external reporting
Administer multi-state entity registration and annual renewals, and ensure timely property tax filing and payment
Prepare and submit all debt, lender, and loan servicer reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
Coordinate quarterly and annual investor reporting and tax deliverables
Support the annual audit and tax compliance process as day-to-day contact for external auditors and tax preparers
Team and cross-functional
Supervise and develop junior accounting staff
Respond to investor, lender, and internal inquiries
Support CFO-led initiatives in insurance and property tax standardization, property-level budgeting, cash forecasting, and vendor cost management
Requirements
6+ years of accounting experience with a strong real estate background
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
CPA, or actively pursuing
Fund accounting experience, including working alongside third-party fund administrators
Hands-on experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable multi-entity ERP, in an environment with more than 20 legal entities
Working knowledge of multi-state entity registration and property tax administration
Exposure to cash controls and lender or debt reporting
Self-starter with strong communication and problem-solving skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
Preferred Qualifications
Experience configuring Sage Intacct dimensions or entity structure, not only operating in it
Construction accounting: work in progress, draw schedules, capitalized interest
Experience with warehoused assets held ahead of fund contribution
Self-storage, RV storage, or other operating real estate asset classes
Vena for planning and reporting; ADP for payroll
Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior accounting staff
Compensation and Growth Path
Base salary: $120,000 – $140,000, depending on experience, CPA status, and depth of fund and multi-entity ERP background.
Annual bonus: Eligible for 10–15% of base
Benefits: medical, dental, vision and 401(k), remote with periodic commute to Chicago office.
