Description supplied by the original job listing.

Mechanical Engineering Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more technically rigorous AI models — and we need mechanical engineers to make it happen. Your deep domain knowledge will directly shape how AI reasons through complex physical systems, from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and FEA.
This is a rare opportunity to apply your engineering expertise in a cutting-edge AI context, working flexibly and remotely on your own schedule.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Advanced Engineering Problems — Craft challenging, domain-specific problems across FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, material science, and mechatronics to stress-test AI performance
Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop rigorous, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
Audit AI Technical Reasoning — Review AI-generated CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for accuracy, safety, and compliance with standards like ASME and ISO
Identify and Fix Reasoning Failures — Spot logical errors such as incorrect force distributions or energy conservation violations, and provide structured feedback to improve model reasoning
Work Independently and Asynchronously — Manage your own workload and contribute on a schedule that suits you
Who You Are
Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
Strong foundational knowledge in solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and precisely in written form
Highly detail-oriented — meticulous when checking mathematical derivations, unit conversions, and physical constraints
No prior AI experience required
Nice to Have
Prior experience with data annotation, technical writing, or evaluation systems
Proficiency with engineering tools such as SolidWorks, MATLAB, or ANSYS
Familiarity with engineering standards bodies (ASME, ISO, SAE)
Why Join Us
Work on genuinely cutting-edge AI projects alongside top research labs
Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
Freelance autonomy with the backing of a well-connected AI organization
Gain rare, hands-on exposure to how advanced large language models are trained and evaluated
Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
