The Engagement
You'll build Microsoft Fabric data platforms for mission-driven organizations, starting with a nonprofit client build already underway and more Microsoft work behind it. The work: pull data out of the systems these organizations run on, shape it into something leaders trust, and turn it into reporting they actually use.
What You'll Own
Designing and building lakehouses, warehouses, and pipelines in Fabric
Connecting source systems like case management, CRM, and finance tools
Building semantic models and Power BI reports
Setting up access controls and row-level security for sensitive data
Documenting the build so the client's team can run it after handoff
What You Bring
Production experience with Microsoft Fabric, or deep Azure Synapse and Data Factory work you've carried into Fabric
Strong SQL and Power BI, including DAX
Python or PySpark in notebooks
Experience handling sensitive data and the controls it demands
The judgment to ask what decision the data serves before you build
A plus: Power Automate, Copilot Studio, Fabric certification, or health and human services data
Engagement Terms
Independent contractor (1099)
About 60-80 hours per month, scoped by project phase
Based in the Greater Washington, D.C. area or remote within the U.S.
