Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Finance Executive based in Malaysia to support our UK Finance Team, playing a key role in ensuring accurate, timely and efficient financial operations across the group. This role is ideal for someone with strong accounts payable experience, solid full-set accounting knowledge, and a mindset focused on continuous improvement and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Payments (Primary Focus)
Process purchase invoices, staff expenses and supplier payments accurately and on a timely basis
Prepare and operate bi-monthly payment runs, ensuring all supporting documentation is complete, reviewed and properly filed
Set up and input payments across various banking portals and payment platforms
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Reconciliations & Financial Control
Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations
Complete daily Mastercard settlement reconciliations and investigate variances
Reconcile settlement and deposit accounts, including Mastercard, Shoal, Stripe & Trust accounts
Maintain trackers for saving deposits and settlements, ensuring completeness and accuracy
Month-End & Accounting Support
Support monthly financial close activities, with a clear understanding of double-entry accounting and the impact on P&L and Balance Sheet
Assist with accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
Support preparation of year-end financial statements and statutory audits
Payroll, AR & Other Support
Assist with monthly payroll processing and related reconciliations
Support accounts receivable activities, including raising sales invoices and monitoring collections
Provide ad-hoc support to the wider finance team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
Process Improvement & Systems
Proactively identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and efficiency through automation and better use of systems
Support improvements to finance workflows as the business scales
Requirements:
Strong understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles
Experience handling full set of accounts and month-end close is a strong advantage
Solid accounts payable experience, including payment runs and reconciliations
Familiarity with accounting software such as Xero or similar
Proficient in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
Good understanding of UK VAT rules is an added advantage
Highly organised, proactive and able to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail with the ability to understand the wider financial impact of transactions
Excellent communication skills and a collaborative team player
Curious mindset with a desire to continuously improve processes and systems
