Role Description This is a full-time remote role for a Senior System Administrator at Upscend. The person in this role will manage and maintain production and development environments, including servers, networks, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance. Daily responsibilities include monitoring system health, performing regular updates and patches, managing backups and disaster recovery, and automating routine tasks with scripting and configuration management tools. The Senior System Administrator will troubleshoot complex technical issues, provide escalation-level support, and collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to implement best practices. The role also involves contributing to infrastructure planning, documenting system configurations, and continuously improving operational processes.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong System Administration skills, including managing servers, operating systems, and cloud-based environments.
Candidates should possess advanced Troubleshooting and Technical Support skills to diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and application issues.
Candidates should possess solid Network Administration skills, including configuration, monitoring, and securing network devices and services.
Candidates should possess broad Information Technology skills, including familiarity with security best practices, backup strategies, and IT governance.
Relevant skills and qualifications that would be beneficial include experience with Linux/Unix systems, cloud platforms (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP), scripting (e.g., Bash, Python), and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).
Additional beneficial qualifications include strong communication skills, the ability to work independently in a remote environment, prior experience in SaaS or LMS platforms, and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
