Job Description:
Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Static Equipment
Location: Talawade, Pune, Maharashtra, India
Job Purpose:
To execute mechanical design and detailed engineering activities for static equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, deaerators, and related equipment. Ensure compliance with applicable ASME, API, IBR, and customer-specific requirements while delivering accurate engineering drawings, calculations, and documentation within project timelines.
2. Responsibilities:
Execute mechanical design and detailed engineering activities for pressure vessels, heat exchangers, deaerators, and other static equipment.
Prepare mechanical design calculations in accordance with applicable ASME Section VIII, API, IBR, and other relevant codes and standards.
Prepare 3D models and 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks.
Generate Bill of Materials (BOM), Purchase Order Specifications (POS), and project engineering documentation.
Prepare and compile Manufacturer's Data Reports (MDR) for ASME U-Stamp and IBR-approved projects, as applicable.
Review customer specifications, technical requirements, and engineering comments.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, Procurement, and Project teams to resolve technical and manufacturing-related issues.
Ensure design accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with approved drawings and applicable standards.
Support design reviews, engineering optimization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Prepare timely responses to customer technical queries and support customer and third-party inspection requirements.
Maintain proper records of design calculations, drawings, revisions, and project documentation.
3. Company-Specific Responsibilities:
Complete assigned engineering activities within stipulated project timelines.
Follow Ravi Industries' engineering procedures, quality requirements, and document control practices.
Provide technical support to the manufacturing team during fabrication, inspection, and testing.
Support the development and standardization of engineering templates, calculations, and design practices.
Undertake additional tasks assigned by the Head – Engineering or management as required.
4. Competencies
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and static equipment design.
Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, API, IBR, and relevant industry standards.
Knowledge of materials, welding, fabrication, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D engineering drawings.
Ability to interpret customer specifications and prepare engineering calculations.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional coordination skills.
Attention to detail, ownership of assigned tasks, and commitment to timely execution.
5. Experience & Skills
Experience: Minimum 2–3 years of experience in static equipment design and detailed engineering, preferably in a manufacturing or EPC environment.
Hands-on experience in the design of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, deaerators, or related static equipment.
Working knowledge of ASME codes, IBR requirements, and applicable API standards.
Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD; familiarity with SAP or relevant ERP systems is an advantage.
Ability to prepare design calculations, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
Strong coordination and communication skills.
6. Qualifications
BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Additional training in pressure vessel design, heat exchanger design, ASME codes, or relevant engineering software is an advantage.
