UX/UI Designer

Role Description This is a part-time remote role for a UX/UI Designer at Oviedo's Lab. The designer will create user-centered interfaces and visual designs for web-based tools, dashboards, and other digital products that support the lab’s research and outreach activities. Day-to-day tasks include translating research requirements into wireframes and mockups, designing intuitive interaction flows, and collaborating with researchers and developers to refine usability. The role also involves iterating on designs based on feedback, contributing to front-end implementation when needed, and ensuring accessibility and consistency across products. The position offers flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, research-driven projects.
Qualifications
Strong skills in User Experience (UX) and User Interface Design, with the ability to create user-centered, accessible, and intuitive digital experiences.
Proficiency in Visual Design and Mockups using industry-standard tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD) to produce clear, high-quality design deliverables.
Foundational understanding of Front-End Development (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to collaborate effectively with developers and support design implementation.
Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate with research teams in an academic environment.
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a portfolio demonstrating UX/UI projects and design process; experience with research or education-related products is a plus.
